Rocket Bunny + LS1 Nissan S13 Project

Recently, a customer asked if we were interested in building a 240sx with a Rocket Bunny Body kit and Chevy LS1.
Of course we agreed and were excited to work on a new project car.
The parts have been arriving slowly but surely and let me tell you, this project will be built once and built properly.
We wanted to keep everyone up to date with the progress of the build; so let us start off with some pictures of parts we’ve received so far.

Here we have the famous s13 180sx Rocket Bunny Wide Body kit.

The Blackmarker’s Project S2000 Diary

“This is where The Speed Syndicate comes in.

They are a relatively new shop, but the skills and knowledge these guys have are AMAZING!! They do some of the best fab work I have ever seen. Pretty much you name anything, and they can make it. They will be doing extensive fab work on The Blackmarker’s Project S2K, as we will need it in order for our next Force Induction Plan to work.”

So anyways, back to The Blackmarker’s Project S2K.

For our next project, we are going to ditch the tiny C30 Rotrex Supercharger.

The following is a build journal written by our good friend regarding his theblackmarkers sponsored AP1 Honda S2000. Check out their website @ www.blackmarkers.ca

BlackmarkersWith so many crazy S2K on this board, it’s hard to standout and be unique. However I am still gonna do my best, and this will be the diary for the upcoming build up for The Blackmarker’s Project S2K.

The goal is to build a daily drivable and trackable project car. I tried hard to find a balance in between both, and so far I have been quite happy with the outcome.

For those who remember, I had a project thread titled “Advance Motorsport 2009 Project Car ” which showed how I turned my bone stock s2k into the way it is currently sitting now.

The Build

So now you have seen how my car is like currently, now it’s time for the next stage!

This is where The Speed Syndicate comes in.

They are a relatively new shop, but the skills and knowledge these guys have are AMAZING!! They do some of the best fab work I have ever seen. Pretty much you name anything, and they can make it. They will be doing some extensive fab work on The Blackmarker’s Project S2K, as we will need it in order for our next Force Induction Plan to work.

So anyways, back to The Blackmarker’s Project S2K.

For our next project, we are going to ditch the tiny C30 Rotrex Supercharger.

In goes the BIG BROTHER! The C38-91, Rotrex newest C38 series charger. We have no idea how much power it would make yet, as this will be one of the very first C38-91 to be installed in a S2K. For those who are not familiar with what the C38 can do, you can view the following video.

This video is a TTS Supercharger kit with the C38-81 (slightly smaller then C38-91), about 15psi on a bone stock F20C, reved up to 8500 (It started to detonate up top as it wasn’t done tuning)

So yes, our next project will be the C38-91, along with a custom V-Mount setup. Richard from TTS has already shipped out the Charger, Bracket, and Pulley. Once we get them in our hands, the guys at The Speed Syndicate will start the fab work on the custom V-mount.

In the mean time, I gotta prep my engine for the higher boost that’s coming my way.
We will be using a stock AP1 short block, rehone it to fit the 0.25os Mahle Pistons. The setup will be a 2.2L setup, with a teflon coated 2.2 Crank, Pauter 2.2L rods, and Mahle 9.5cr pistons. Of course we will also keep the Alaniz Ported and Polished head on it.

For the clutch, I chose to use the SOS Twin Disc Carbon Clutch. This clutch look so sexy just sitting on the table.

Some other parts includes Innovate engine mount, Evasive Diff Collars, Stainless Clutch Line, and some ID1000 injectors.

So on Monday I am sending the block out to get built. Hopefully in about a week the block will be ready and the charger will be here.

Will keep you guys updated! And sorry for the long ass thread.

And the C38-91 finally came in!

PROBLEM IS!

They sent us the wrong pulley!!

Now waiting for them to get back to us!

The project is officially under way.

Here are some updates with crappy phone pictures!

Time for a little update:

Some goodies that came in…

We are not going to run the Mahle pistons anymore, so here is the current setup:

2.2L setup
Iron liners
Wiesco piston 9.5:1
Pauter Rods
ACL bearings
Teflon coated AP2 crank

The head will still be the same Alaniz ported and polished head

Also upgraded the KWV3 to KW Clubsport, going to run 12k swift springs all around..

Latest update!!

The Clubsport + Swift 12k Springs + Umbrella Variable Height Suspension Kit is ready!!

The S55 AMG Project UPDATED

speedsyndicate.com S55 AMG
The last few days Curtis has been working on a carbon fiber air box to fit on top of the supercharger. Here are some pictures of the fabrication process.

Just a little example of the kind of custom fabrication we do at the Speed Syndicate! This S55 AMG is already a beast, and there’s more custom work coming!

Here are the current specifications for the car as of Feb 24, 2011:

  • Snow performance water/meth kit,
  • Custom Top Mount Intercoolers
  • Custom Fuel Feed and Converted to Return System
  • FiveO Injectors (550cc)
  • Custom upgraded Heat Exchanger
  • CM30 Johnson IC Pump
  • Custom 82mm Porsche GT3 throttle body
  • 180mm crankshaft pulley
  • Custom long tube headers
  • Custom full section exhaust
  • Upper and lower phenolic spacers
  • OE tuning ECU flash

(Step 2) Here is the second step to the creation of this Carbon Air Box. The first layer of fiberglass is laid on top of the mold, and now we just have to wait for it to cure!

(Step 1) This is a foam mold that the fiberglass will be laid onto.

At The Speed Syndicate we are constantly striving to set the bench mark for performance. This 2005 Mercedes Benz S55 AMG is an example of our passion for cars and speed. This car is currently running consistent 12 second quarter miles but the owner is still not happy with these times.

Even with drag radials the car will not break into the 11s. After data logging we found that the IAT(intake air temp) was still too hot and had much room for improvement. On this particular motor and all 5.4l kompressors for that matter, the intercooler for the supercharger sits underneath the supercharger, sandwiched between the supercharger and engine block.

To cope with this problem, we developed a new Top-Mount Intercooler setup for the 5.4k motor. Having much experience with this specific motor we are confident that we have the knowledge and skills to achieve our goal.

We did every single modification in this car and it certainly has come a long way from being a stock AMG.

Stay tuned for the results!

CLS55 “Journey to the 10s”

Holding the 1/4 mile record in North America, this CLS55 is far more than a luxury commuter. Despite keeping the luxurious interior and other features, it can rip through the 1/4 mile in under 12 seconds (11.36 to be exact). We’ve done some extensive modifications, but we’re not done with her yet – This summer we’re going to go for the 10′s!

This CLS55 makes a record pass at Pacific Raceways with a 1.7 60′.  11.36@124.75MPH

This Mercedes Benz CLS55 currently holds the quarter mile record in North America @
1/4 Mile ET: 11.344
1/4 Mile MPH: 124.800
1/8 Mile ET: 7.372
1/8 Mile MPH: 97.640
0-60 Foot ET: 1.795

The 10′s are in sight this summer!
In the next week we are installing a series of goodies to help us get to our goal.
Today we received cams for it.

LSD anyone?

TIME ATTACK STI Project

What started out as a regular stock STI has turned into a beast! The original STI is already no slouch, but we did a lot of custom mods to make it even faster. We’ve done a custom V-intercooler mount, oil pan, manifold, suspension, sub-frame, wheels, hoses, blow-off valve – the works! The result is a mean, fast, nimble track monster that is a force to be reckoned with.

Sorry folks for the lack of an update in the last few weeks but here are some pics to make up for it.

Very well welded, as expected from MOROSO

Even comes with an oil pickup which is much thicker and stronger than the weak stock one

Just finished Installing the Whiteline anti lift kit along with the Oswald Subframe. I reccommend this subframe for anyone in the market looking to reduce weight from the front end. The sub frame fits perfectly and is very easy to install.

Comparison Shot. Oswald VS Stock

We just received this new Oswald Performance Front Sub frame. Excellent build quality and a great product at a good price. Big thanks to Mickey@oswald performance. We will install it later this week.

Had these for a couple years and one of the struts blew last year, so we ordered replacements from Japan. They are Cusco Zero 2R Coilovers.

Had this part lying around for a year, its a cosworth intake manifold. Good quality as expected from Cosworth.

Here is a picture of the custom bumper beam we made out of 6061 Aluminium, tig welded and ground so it looks like a solid piece of aluminium.

Look what just arrived today.  Turbosmart BOVs are designed to reduce turbo spool-up time from idle and reduce turbo lag between gears for even greater performance from your turbocharged vehicle.

Unlike undampened underdrive pulleys, which offer no protection to high performance engines, the ATI Super Damper provides balanced dampening of torsional crankshaft vibrations at all RPM levels.

STOPTECH TROPHY Kit

I should have put up pics when these were new :(   Now they are dirty and used like a _____.

Curtis just finished putting together the Oil feed line for the turbocharger.

As some of you know, the V-mount intercooler for our time attack STi is coming along pretty quickly. Here is a mock up picture from earlier this week.

Here is a picture of it this morning with the end tanks mocked up along with the Cosworth intake manifold.
